[...] *The Canon 5d mk III doesn't support the UHS-i spec, so while these cards function just fine in the camera, they provide no performance benefit. Yes, it makes the camera slow. No, there's nothing you can do about it. If you like conspiracy theories, consider that Canon may have intentionally nerfed the 5d mk III so that you'd have another reason to upgrade to the 1D-x. Check out my article for more details on the performance impact of writing files to the SD card in the 5d mk III.
Thanks Gavin for your reply. I have been to the nVidia site and downloaded drivers on their recommendation but the problem still persists. Spyder3 elite will just not recognise my monitor. It did perfectly in windows 7 using the same touchscreen so I can only assume the spyder software is not windows 8 compatible for 64 bit machines.

Thanks again

The Elite and Pro models are based on the same core software, if I remember correctly. On the licensing screen, I just copy/pasted in the license I've used all along and it worked fine. The fact that you're getting an error about your video card drivers suggests that perhaps you should explore that direction a bit. What video card do you have? Are you using Windows Update to get the latest driver, or are you getting it directly from the chipset manufacturer (probably ATI/AMD or nVidia?) Windows Update is well known for only providing very old, or minimal functionality drivers for video cards.

If you have an ATI/AMD video card, start here:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

If you have an nVidia video card, start here:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Follow the steps on either one of those pages to get the latest drivers for Windows 8, and give it another go, Damian.

Hi
You're lucky. I have Spyder 3 elite and using windows 8 pro and it won't even recognise my touchscreen computer/monitor even afte downloading the 4.0.2 software. It won't even let me in to pay for the license. It just states I need to update my video card drivers but these are all up to date after installing windows 8.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I wouldn't say I am awfully disappointed by the lack of ruby red. It is just not perfect. That was what I was hoping for. A laptop that totally satisfies. I am about 95% satisfied. I do feel though that HP has wronged me and everyone else who purchased this laptop. They lead us to believe in something which they did not carry through with. I happened to have known about the color issue and yet I believed in HP's claim that their software would fix the problem. So after being shortchanged by HP's design I now have to endure being lied to. This is what hurts a little - being slighted by a company. A small case of being double-crossed and a computer company running away with your money.
My girlfriend actually laughed at me for trusting a company's word. You'd think I would have learnt by now.
